To Sum it All Up
In all of human nature people are generally kind. People do not need to be selfish because we live in a world were there is an abundance of everything so it doesn't mean we need to resort to our selfish ways. We have no purpose to harm each other because we life under God. Under him we can have some control over our government the way God does us. Naturally we are a peaceful species, given that we receive our God-given rights which is life, liberty, health, and possession. The one who we wished to govern us must be able to protect those God-given rights otherwise he is not someone who should be having power over anyone. I feel very optimistic about our state of human nature.
Three Understandings
"Philosophies of leadership are determined by beliefs about human nature."
It depends on how someone was taught or their beliefs on human nature that will determine the way they lead a group or make decisions. Someone who had a different understanding on human nature will lead in they way they were taught while there could be someone who has a different understanding of it which means they will most likely lead in a different way. Based on a principle of a school who was lead to trust or not trust students will allow different opportunity for students. When a student as CVU has a free block they are given the permission to go to a commons area and work or socialize. When a student at Essex high school has a free block they are required to be a part of a study hall class. This is something that can relate to the way a leaderships beliefs on human nature can change how they lead.
I agree with this quote because in our human nature we are an optimistic species. When a leader fallows what I say about our human nature they are more likely to have a better chance of getting more to fallow them. I will disagree with this quote at time based on what that leaders beliefs on human nature are. They more they lean away from what I have to say about human nature the more likely they are to be a illegitimate leader. This illegitimate leader is probably not influencing their followers in a good way.
"The governed have a responsibility for their governance."
This only works for democracy as we who chose one of the people who wish to lead our nation. This means not only should we listen to our leader but we should take responsibility for their actions. We should and need to take responsibility for them because we wish they were to lead us, when and if they make a wrong decision that could be on us. Its like owning a dog, first you picked the dog, you have to take care of the dog, and some of the times you have to fallow the dog. When you play with the dog or take it for a walk they lead you to where he wants to go or play. The dog is what is representing the governance as they lead the way and the governed is the person who chose the dog and allows the dog to lead.
I agree with this understanding because its exactly what i have to say about being governed. Because i say that people should chose who their governance and depending on whether they're a illegitimate leader or legitimate they can continue. I don't fully agree with the responsibility for their governance but I understand the point being made. Although I would say that the now elected governance would have a responsibility to keep up with what he could have said to those who chose him to be their legitimate leader, the followers did chose him so it makes sense at to why they would hold responsibility for that leader.
"Human nature does not determine our actions; it inclines us toward certain actions"
This is saying that our selfish state of human nature is telling us to do one thing but because where we are in this time we know what decisions are right from wrong. If our human nature state told us that we need to harm someone in order to get food or money we know that his is wrong so depending on what you believe about human nature you will go out and make that wrong decision or you will do the right thing. What stops us from knowing what's right from wrong is what the government decides is right from wrong. They say whether it's okay or not okay to resort to our selfish human nature state when someone needs something to survive.
I disagree with this because it says that our human nature is that we are selfish beings, which I disagree with. It can also lead to say that we go to this selfish state when there isn't enough of something to give to all people. Both things go against what I have to say, which is why i would say that it doesn't incline us toward certain actions. I will agree that it does not determine our actions, people intend to do good which is why, in the end, we chose to do the right thing.

My Opinion
My belief in human nature is very straight forward. I say that from birth everyone has a god-given right to life, liberty, health, and possessions. I say this now and disagree with Hobbes' belief on human nature because of the time we live in, it's unnecessary to resort to violence and slaughter to survive. The natural right I approach is something that is moral while Hobbes is instinctual. Today's world there is no real reason to be instinctual because humans are a species that are on the top of the food chain, being there we're allowed to become moral. I say that in order for government to rule they need to be able to protect our moral state and our natural rights.
There are three types of political states; good state maximizes the rights, bad state is on that doesn't grantee them, and an evil state assaults natural rights. The people are allowed to vote/chose who is leading them. If at some point a illegitimate government comes in they are to be revolted against. My social contract is citizens must consent to be government and must vote for the one who will lead as long as they are going to protect natural rights.

The Declaration of Independence was something that was influenced mostly by me because the founding fathers thought it would be beneficial to the new country. Some say that America was great experiment based on my theories. This fallows his blank slate belief as the Country is new and those who came can start with a black slate.
Something that can always apply to my theory is when someone move, a person can begin with becoming someone new in their new home. A person can have a blank mind in this new place and be open to anything when before they could have been someone who was more closed off.

My belief on everyone being born with a black mind and people become the way they are based on how and where they were raised. I say this because someone who born is going to be open minded to anything and will take in much of what they are given. Someone who was raised in rural Nepal is going to understand and know different things than someone who was born in the United States. They will live their life differently from the other. That's why I believe different environments determine how people can act.
